LA1: Your Conflict Resolution Style
Using our text readings, analyze your own conflict management style as well as that found in your current or former place of work. Starting with figure 10.6 from our Saylor text, describe your most frequently used conflict handling style. Of the styles described, which is most effective and why? Then consider your current or past workplace, and its organizational culture…what types of conflict were prevalent, and at what levels? Finally, tie conflict to our past and current concepts. What role does perception and communication play in conflict? How does conflict affect motivation? Other thoughts?
Give us an example of your style in action. When explaining the situation, keep in mind to identify our concepts such as type of conflict (intra, interpersonal, intergroup), aspects of the organization that influence it, etc.
